I was blessed by one of my clients to offer Betsy and I to stay in her “house” in Mexico. We were expecting a condo in a tourist area, which would have been awesome, but we didn’t know what awesome meant till we got there. I’ll not go into how incredibly beautiful the house was that we stayed in (You can see a gallery of the house here) but instead I’d like to say what a great time I had visiting and shooting a “real” Mexican village.
I told our houseboy that I wanted to see the real Mexico, not the stuff all tourists see. He told his home was just a few miles away and he would be happy to take me. I asked him if it was safe for me to walk around on my own and he informed me I would be fine.
If you have read my Welcome Page you know that I don’t claim to be a writer, but it’s very difficult to enter this post without explaining how awesome this experience was. Our first stop was his neiborhood bar just so he could introduce me to his friends, which turned into about an hour of them showing me they could drink more than me. So after the “siesta” I ventured out into the village. About 30 minutes into my trip I met a little boy that would become my “friend” and tourguide. Keep in mind that I don’t speak a word of Spanish so this friendship was challenged from the start. My little friend took me all over the village and even into his own home, jabbering and smiling all the way.
As I have said, my photos speak louder than my written words so I’ll stop now and invite you to experience what I did in my visit to the “real Mexico”. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did, or at least appreciate how fortunate I was in sharing a day in the life of “my little friend”.
You can view all the images here. Enjoy!

Back in November of last year, my boss (seen in one of the shots) took a couple of us out after work one evening and I took the camera thinking “Maybe I’ll shoot some stuff, maybe not”. I was rather surprised with some of the images from that night, mainly the panoramics due to the boat moving and me having a few drinks altering my ability to keep a clean horizon line with the camera. A couple of the sunsets have become some of my favorites.
Take a look at the whole series here. Enjoy!

Ok, time to bring out some of the old stuff. I set up my Zenfolio site before I started this blog and I have some galleries I’d like to share from the past. This gallery is from a trip to Mexico Betsy and I took. This is specifically panoramics from the trip. Some really cool churches as well as some countryside type shots.
Here’s the entire gallery. Enjoy!

On a recent trip through Wheeling, West Virginia I made it a point to visit the Mail Pouch National Headquarters. I had really hoped they would have a museum or a historical display of some sort, but not the case.
As I was shooting a lady came out and I asked her about a museum. She said the building was not open to the public for safety purposes. She did however show quite a bit of interest in what I was doing. She also informed me that Mail Pouch does indeed still paint barns. Apparently there’s a small amount of new paintings a year. She invited me in to get the name and email of the lady that’s in charge of the new paintings. Once we were inside I met another lady that also showed quite a bit of interest in my obsession with Mail Pouch barns. She even apologized for not having a historical display for me to visit. She also informed me that Mail Pouch is actually owned by Swisher, which I was not aware of. Feeling like I was let down, she offered me a free pack of Grape Swishers! I had hopped to buy a Mail Pouch book or t-shirt, but the cigers were a nice gesture!
When I finished visiting with the ladies I shot a few photos and ventured on to my next “subject”. As I was driving I kind of felt let down by the whole thing. Maybe because I was looking so forward to it. But after I got home and started to edit the shots it became clear to me that it was a good trip, and well worth it for my collection.
You can see a few of the many shots from that day here. Enloy!

I had traveled to San Francisco long ago when in the Air Force but was unable to shoot while there. I knew at that time I wanted to return at some point and take lots of photographs.
In June of 2008 I finally had my chance to return. Although it was a business trip with a pretty packed schedule I did get out and shoot some stuff. I would imagine San Francisco has to be one of the most photographed cities in the country, it’s just an incredible place.
This gallery contains a small group of the images I shot while there, mainly panoramic. At some point I’ll post the entire group of photos, but for now it’s just these.
You can see all of them here. Enjoy!

This is a gallery of mixed images from the local area that I have collected. They are from various dates and events with the only they have in common is that I captured them within 10-15 miles from home. There is a real wide variety of images here, everything from the inside of the Hofbrauhaus in Newport to a Balloon Glow at Coney Island.
Take a look at the whole gallery here. Enjoy!

If you’re from the Northern Kentucky or Southern Ohio area you’ve heard of “Rabbit Hash”. A lazy little town on the Ohio River that actually had a dog as it’s mayor for a while.
I have visited Rabbit Has quite a few times, and shot photos on every visit. Here are some shots from my last visit including some detail shots and panoramics of the interior of the store.
Here’s the entire gallery. Enjoy!
I also have a panoramic in the Barns, Barnyards & Country Living Gallery.

Since I was in the Air Force (many years ago) I’ve always had a passion for aircraft. And since my son lives in Dayton I thought I’d make a trip to the Air Force Museum. I lived across the street from here many years ago and rarely went while stationed there.
Here’s a group of shots I took in a quickie run through the museum. All panoramics so they each took a while which explains the small gallery.
See them all here. Enjoy!
